Raja Sen is one of India’s most read and reviled film critics. His outspoken and honest reviews (some may use the word ‘savage’) stoked online flames long before Facebook and Twitter came into existence. (As a reader once said, he has “made enemies with the ungrammatical.”)

Sen has been a film critic for 15 years, and writes a column on television for Mint Lounge as well as a Formula One column for Rediff. Having reviewed for Rediff, NDTV and The Hindustan Times, he is presently on hiatus from the weekly review as he works on longer-form projects. He continues to write for varied publications, and selections of his work will show up on this site.

His first book — an illustrated, all-ages adaptation of The Godfather written entirely in limericks — is called The Best Baker In The World, and you should purchase half a dozen copies right here. The second book, a children’s adaptation of Trainspotting, is under way.

Sen has written dialogues for comedy films 99 and Go Goa Gone, and written and directed part of the collaborative film, X: Past Is Present. He has also acted in Good Night Good Morning, but that word is used loosely.

He is currently creating a series of documentaries for National Geographic, while chipping away at several fiction projects, in various stages of development. He promises to start a podcast as soon as he finds the right name.
