From Boys To Men: The 2008 F1 season

Before the 09 season kicks off next week, a look at last year’s insanity:

Current motorsport is dominated by boys — none of whom can really drive like men. The pitlane cameras, which used to showcase gorgeous girlfriends and wives egging on their drivers in the most glamorous sport on earth, now focus routinely on fathers Hamilton and Massa, watching their kids clash and spurn, each gleefully goofing up on track.

    I don’t know how I missed that article.. It was, and still is, a brilliant read.

    I am hoping that the new rules to decide the Champion this year be beneficial to the sport. Although I am not that sure, as the consistency of Kubica etc would not be helpful to them.

      Thanks. Kunal, about the new rules: I honestly think it’ll be interesting to see driver-perceptions shift towards winning > coasting for points, but consistency will still be rewarded. If someone like Kubica is 4th in the points, he’ll still be up there despite the points not mattering — it’s just that if you want to be champion, you’ll have to WIN more. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
